FAQ

The Answers You Need

ARE YOU BAPTIST CAMPUS MINISTRY OR JUDSON FELLOWSHIP

We are both! Judson Fellowship is our student organization name registered with NIU. To the larger DeKalb/Sycamore community, we are Baptist Campus Ministry.

WHAT IS A BAPTIST?

A Christian tradition emphasizing the Lordship of Jesus Christ, believers’ baptism, the competency of all believers to be in direct relationship with God and to interpret Scripture, the importance of the local church, the assurance of freedom in worship and opinion, and the need to be Christ’s witnesses within society.
We are proud Baptist, however all people from different background and faith traditions are welcome. We find that we have many people in our community that come from different traditions, but find a family with us.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE PART OF THE AMERICAN BAPTIST  CHURCHES U.S.A TRADITION?

WHAT DOES YOUR CONGREGATION LOOK LIKE?

We mainly have students and faculty from NIU worshiping with us. We welcome all so we have some community members, alumni, and community college friends that also fellowship with us.

ARE YOU A CHURCH? WHAT ARE YOU?

We are a parachurch organization. That means we are not a church, but we work and minister along side churches. We have dedicated ourselves to being in intentional community with the NIU students to provide a space to explore the Christian faith or grow in the Christian faith. We are the ministry of the American Baptist Churches U.S.A's Great Rivers Region and Area 1 Churches. To put another way, we are past NIU alumni and ABCUSA church's ministry to the NIU community.
